Indias Horrofic Politicians...

India is a country of many contrasts. On one hand we have the world’s richest living in our country, and on the other, so many Indians are way below the poverty line. Many such paradoxes continue to co-exist in the country. One example that sticks out is that of our nation’s great leaders.

On the one hand we have had stalwarts like Mahatma Gandhi and on the other we have R.R. Patil, V S Achuthanandan and many many more.

In a time of crisis, Mahatma Gandhi led the entire country, almost single handedly to freedom.
In a time of crisis, Mr. Patil and Mr. Achuthanandan have nothing better to do but to make irrelevant, stupid statements.

I think Mr. Patil is a great fan of Shahrukh Khan, India’s premier bollywood hero. In his statement to the country, a few hours after the attacks on Mumbai had begun; he said that this kind of attack is no big deal, and bade bade sheheron mein choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain. I think the only word he missed out was “Senorita” (dialogue from Dilwale Dhulania Le Jaenge). Is this the kind of response we expect from our deputy CM? Didn’t he realize the magnitude of the problem? There have been close to 200 deaths in the whole ordeal… is that such a small deal? Let’s ask the 11 year old girl who lost her parents what she is feeling. That poor baby will not even be able to put words to her heartache. Let’s ask that girl who lost her husband and in-laws together. Does he think her heart will ever stop bleeding? Let’s talk to the many that have been injured and are now handicapped.
Mr. Patil shame on you! These times call for serious introspection. Stop taking everything lightly. This is a BIG deal. If you cannot understand it, get out of the country NOW. You are not fit to be an Indian; you are surely not fit to be a minister.

Now let’s come to Mr. Achuthanandan. He was on his way to pay his respects to a soldier’s family who lost their son in the terror attacks. That’s a great gesture. But what did he do… he sent sniffer dogs to their house to ensure that the area was safe before he reaches. Do you not get it… Major Sandeep’s family is grieving for their loss… have some etiquette! Naturally the outraged father threw Mr. Achuthanandan out of his house. Follows Mr. Achuthanandan remarks to Major Sandeep’s family saying that even dogs would not go there had it not been for sandeep and the like?????

I want the Indian president and prime minister to understand… with comments like this, which parents will encourage their kids to sign up for the Indian defense forces? Do you realize how these things could cripple our defenses??? What kind of leaders do we have in our country? Do political parties choose nincompoops like this to take charge?

I plead with you; let this not go unpunished. Please do something to end our anguish. Please make sure that future leaders have certain qualities which are so sorely lacking in the current set.
